Professional Experience
Kanaris Tsinganos is a Professor of the Department of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the director of National Observatory of Athens since 2011. He has lectured at the Univ. of Chicago, Harvard University, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, St Andrews University and Univ. of Porto. Participates in several active research collaborations abroad. His work is cited in more than 2000 citations of SCI (Hirsch index h = 27). He has also elected Secretary and President of the Hellenic Astronomical Society. Former national representative in ESA’s Science Programm Committee Member of National Advisory Council for Research and Technology. Greek PI to Coronagraph Control Board, ESA's PROBA 3 mission.
Research Interests
His scientific interest lie - amongst others - on the fields of Plasma Astrophysics, Magnetohydrodynamics, Cosmic Jets, Solar and Heliospheric Physics, Solar and Stellar Winds, and Space Instrumentaion.
